The excitement is building in Trim this week ahead of the very first Trim Trad Festival. The Festival is happening over the bank holiday weekend from the 26th of October to the 29th of October inclusive. Trim is already well known for its other festivals such as The Salmon of Knowledge Festival and Trim Haymaking festival and with the addition of this Traditional Irish music event, Trim is certainly being put on the map as a town alive with activity and music as well as its heritage history.

What’s happening over the weekend?

The trad weekend has something for every age group. Every night will see Music acts taking to the stage around pubs and bars in Trim, followed the next morning by the Trim Tradathon from 11am to 3pm, locals and visitors alike will be very impressed with the line-up.

An Irish music busking competition will be held around the pubs and bars in Trim through-out Saturday. All age groups are free to enter here with the winner being announced ahead of the céilí and set dancing evening in the Castle Arch Hotel. Here guests will be entertained by a live céilí band and will be able to take to the floor for set dancing.

On Sunday the 28th Trims own Gluaís Trad band will be preforming in the Castle Arch Hotel followed by the highly anticipated Traditional group Coscán. Coscán are celebrating 20 years of traditional music this year and the Trad Fest is very excited about welcoming them back to Trim. The Arch Bar will be serving its famous gastro evening menu ahead of the event. No bookings are necessary but you can check out their menu here.

David Gorey of Trim Tourism network was delighted to be a part of the launch of Trims newest festival in the Castle Arch Hotel- “This festival has been in the pipeline for a while. We are really happy with the list of events happening over the weekend and we are already making plans for more events in 2019. We are honoured to have Martina O’Dwyer joining us for the launch from Faílte Ireland and Irelands Ancient east and David Gilroy from Boyne Valley Tourism. We are very proud of our town and the history associated with it, this festival will definitely highlight the amazing offerings we have in our bars, pubs and hotels.”
