Things to Do

 

Meath known as the Royal County is the perfect place to spend some time in.  Steeped within this Heritage County are ancient Historic sites and monuments dating back thousands of years such as Trim Castle, Newgrange and The Hill of Tara to name but a few.  If your interest lies elsewhere, there are plenty of other activities to keep the family occupied such as horse-riding, Golfing, Kayaking along the River Boyne, Go-Karting and many more.  With a vast array of things to do in Meath this magical County is not to be missed.

 Popular Attractions include:

 Trim Castle – dating back to 1174, Ireland’s Largest Norman Castle otherwise known as King Johns Castle.  Part of the movie ‘Braveheart’ starring Mel Gibson was produced here in 1995.

 Trim Historic Walking Tour - A guided daily tour around the town of Trim which takes visitors back to the medieval times all the way up to the 19th century.

 The Boyne Valley -  World Heritage Site which predates the pyramids in Eygpt – Visit these magnificent megalithic tombs Newgrange, Knowth and Dowth erected in  c3200BC.

 The Hill of Tara –  known as the seat of the high kings in Ireland, home to 142 kings in pre-historic and historic times.

 If Golfing is your speciality, then there are plenty of golf courses suited to all levels and expertise such as Knightsbrook Golf Club, Meath Golf Club and The Glebe Golf Club.

If you would prefer a day out at the races then look no further then Meath.  Home to both Navan Racecourse and Fairyhouse Racecourse if you fancy a flutter on a horse then why not visit these fantastic courses.
